Welcome to a much shorter pre match blog than usual but as we near the end of the season there isn’t a lot to say except well done the Chiefs for finally finding their grove with a good win last week at home making it two successive home wins and congrats to Ryan Smale for earning the National League’s Player of the Week for Nat2S. This is however another weekend and a huge task for the Chiefs as they make their way to Redruth and today’s match against Redruth is more about them than the Chiefs as Redruth still have a realistic chance of promotion, finding themselves just four points behind leaders Esher. Now for this to happen Worthing will have to do Redruth a massive favour by beating Esher on their home soil, a tall task but Worthing are capable, if that happens then all Redruth have to ensure is maximum points from their last two games and that starts with their match against Barnstaple which I can guarantee they will be approaching with all guns blazing because this game is their season. So it will be a tough day for the Chiefs and I do suggest you just get out there and enjoy your rugby. Here then is the team to play Redruth.

Today at Pottington Road Barnstaple play their final game of the season as they face Sidmouth 2nd XV which kicks off at 2.30 and yes they will be playing league rugby next season which is now conformed but which league is yet to be decided.

For us here at Barum though the weekend belongs to the Colts as they prepare for their cup final game against Ivybridge at Kingsbridge this Sunday, kick off will be 3pm and given the weather it could be a glorious day. So the season for the Colts boils down to this last game as they prepare to do battle with a team they have locked horns only once this season, at Pottington Road, where they lost 5-18. Since then though the Colts have put in a lot of hard work and effort to make this final and won the next four games, with the last one against Sidmouth knowing they needed a big score, to get here. Now I’m hoping Lewis Joce and his coaches have got this right and that the Barnstaple Colts have peaked at just the right moment to give this a real go, it certainly feels that way. Ivybridge are a well organised strong side and I am expecting a great game of rugby. Whatever the result though the Colts have entertained us all season with some lovely flowing rugby and to see them competing for the cup will be a treat that many will remember.

If you’re thinking of going there are plenty of seats available on the coach £10pp. To pay for your ticket(s) please bank transfer your payment to the account below! Please use your surname as a reference.
