ADVERTISEMENT FOR THE POSITION OF CLUB HEAD COACH

Barnstaple RFC are seeking to recruit a Club Head Coach who will help deliver the clubs objective of securing and maintaining its position as a National League club whilst supporting the ambitions of all players across all teams.

Formed in 1877, Barnstaple RFC are one the South West’s oldest clubs with 3 men’s teams, a thriving Colts team and vibrant youth section, our commitment to high standards combined with our ambition to compete at the highest possible level is matched only by our inclusive and welcoming culture, and our renowned social scene.
Who are we looking for?
After a challenging season back in National League 2 (RFU Level 4), we are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Head Coach to lead our club with the aim of retaining and building on its position within that league. Supported by the assistant coaches, club physios and the senior players group, you will accomplish this by providing our men’s teams with the tools to achieve success in their individual leagues.

Among your core duties will be:
• Shape and implement a rugby philosophy that can be consistently applied by all teams across the Club in pursuit of their competitive objectives
• Plan the coaching program for pre-and-in-season training to support the development of player skills at all levels of experience, and which will provide for challenging, active and effective coaching sessions
• Support and direct the execution of the coaching program by the coaching team at training sessions
• Evaluate match performances and training sessions with the coaching team and players and evolve the coaching program as necessary
• Build and embed a process to identify and develop playing talent in all squads across the Club and regularly provide clear, honest feedback to individual players on how they can improve; and

A Level 2 coaching certificate is preferred but not essential.
