Hi All, just a quick few words for what’s happening with our teams this weekend as I’m away so no full-on blog, but I wanted to let you know who our boys were playing before I left.
At home we have our very successful Buccaneers team who can almost touch the Devon Merit table NE title as it is tantalisingly close. They currently lead their nearest rival Exeter Engineers, who have three games in hand over the Bucc’s, by 19 points and play them here at Pottington road in their final game in two weeks’ time. Today they welcome Ilfracombe to Pottington Road in another North Devon derby and a win today will make certain of the title for the Bucc’s. So, if you can get down to the club and give them a massive cheer onwards to that title, it would be a fantastic tribute to them after what has been an extremely successful campaign for the lads.
On the road the Chiefs will have to lick their wounds after last weekend’s defeat and prepare for the two toughest away days they will face this season taking on League leaders Leicester Lions this Saturday before then travelling to 2nd place Clifton next weekend. The Chiefs are not back home until March 25th to face Redruth which will be a massive game on many fronts and not one you will want to miss.
As for Athletic they travel to Devonport after another bonus point win over Exmouth last Saturday and are now just two points behind Torquay for the second-place spot, can they do it with just two games left including this one. Next weekend is their final league game at home to Withycombe so make sure you’re here for that one and then it is on the Shield competition for them for the first time.
