Welcome to Pottington Road — A Weekend of Crucial Rugby Awaits

Hi everyone, and welcome to this short blog about what’s happening this weekend and beyond. Buckle up, because there is plenty to get excited about!

No Match Day Programme This Weekend — But Plenty of Rugby to Enjoy

First things first: there is no league match at Pottington Road this weekend, with the Chiefs away at Redruth and tier 5 and below rugby not starting until next week. That means there is obviously no matchday programme for this weekend.

Barnstaple Athletic Host Exmouth in Final Pre-Season Showdown

But do not for one second think that means there is no high-quality rugby at Pottington Road. Far from it! Barnstaple Athletic get to play their final pre-season match before their league campaign gets underway on the 26th, and they will be taking on a very boisterous Exmouth team. With both teams raring to get some quality rugby under their belts and shake off any lasting rustiness before the league gets underway proper, this match looks set to be a real showstopper of a game. Both sides will be desperate to come away with a win as the ideal catalyst to start their season, and with so much pride and momentum on the line, you can expect fireworks from the very first whistle.

So we welcome Exmouth to Pottington Road for this vital match for both teams to get in shape, and we hope you provide us with a cracking spectacle of rugby we can all enjoy. This is the perfect chance to get down, soak up the atmosphere, and watch two fired-up sides go toe to toe. Trust us, you will not want to miss it!

Chiefs Face Daunting Trip to Redruth

On the road, of course, are the Chiefs, in their third game of the season, and what a difficult match this one is going to be. Having lost to Taunton last weekend to start the home campaign 0-1, the lads will have to really pull themselves up to face a Redruth side that, having put 61 points past Bournville at home two weeks ago, then travelled to Devonport to stick 68 points past the Services. That is 129 points in two games — a truly formidable attacking force. A real tough ask for the Chiefs, and of course one that Redruth will be relishing after last season’s win by the Chiefs in this fixture. Revenge will be firmly on the home side’s mind, and the Chiefs will need every ounce of grit, heart, and determination to come away with a result. This one promises to be an absolute thriller!

Next weekend, the Chiefs will be welcoming Lymm to Pottington Road, and we have the first of our Match Day Carverys on that day. For just £15, you can grab yourself the best carvery in town before kickoff. What better way to build up to a big afternoon of rugby than with a proper feast? Get it in the diary now — it is going to be popular!
