The summer fun starts here as we have another great exhibition of rugby to wet your appetites with the mega BRFC Summer Festival supported by Slee Blackwell Solicitors! On the 10th July, here at Pottington Road,

Barnstaple Rugby will be hosting a huge, inter-club rugby fives and sevens tag rugby festival! Don’t be shy and get done to watch some tremendous and fun filled rugby that includes every age group from under 7’s all the way up to the seniors. The BRFC Summer Festival is a combination of two tournaments, playing side by side, competing to be crowned champions of BRFC! It will feature players and members of Barnstaple rugby club only, all mixed together into the teams that will play one another. The junior tournament will feature teams from under 7s up to under 11s and the senior tournament will feature teams from under 12s all the way up to the seniors and parents/guardians!

Each team has a very special sponsor that we will reveal, day by day, leading up to the festival so keep your eyes on our Facebook page for more to come. Teams will also be picked on Sunday 4th July, so if you have not all ready, please get involved, the link for the registration form can be found below.

The Summer Festival will begin at 10am Saturday 10th July and will finish around 4pm giving you all a chance to get ready for the British & Irish Lions v. Vodacom Bulls game which kicks off at 5pm. This match is being shown at the club house so if you wish to stay behind to watch it then remember to book your table beforehand by contacting Jacqui Edwards at brfcbookings@talktalk.net.

There will be refreshments throughout the festival including an outside BBQ so I’m told, but Covid restriction mean that:-

  • No drinking alcohol on the side-lines or walking around with a pint in your hand.
  • Tables outside will be limited to 2 family groups or six people and table service will be required.
  • You must stay seated at the table social distancing must be maintained at all times and the wearing of face masks when not sitting down will be required.
  • Spectators can get a drink and food on the way to the grandstand and sit in an allocated seat. However those sat in the grandstand will not be able to walk around and will have to remain socially distanced, you must wear a face mask when not seated.

It should be a fun day out for everyone and the start of a new season of rugby just around the corner so get yourself down to Pottington Road and enjoy a fabulous day out in the sun.
